The Mediterranean coast of Turkey preserves one of the ancient world’s most remarkable cultural landscapes, where Lycian cities, Roman harbours, mountain villages, and turquoise bays reveal thousands of years of history shaped by the sea. This Lycian Coast Tour from Cappadocia has been designed as a private seven-night journey connecting Central Anatolia with the Mediterranean through a carefully planned itinerary that combines archaeology, coastal heritage, dramatic landscapes, and authentic local experiences.
Rather than presenting the region as a beach destination alone, the journey explores how the civilizations of ancient Lycia developed along one of Anatolia’s most important maritime corridors, creating a richer understanding of southern Turkey’s history and culture.
This itinerary is ideal for travelers interested in archaeology, ancient civilizations, coastal landscapes, photography, regional cuisine, and Mediterranean culture. It is particularly suited to guests who wish to experience southern Turkey beyond conventional seaside holidays while enjoying the flexibility and comfort of licensed private guiding.
The itinerary follows the historical coastline of ancient Lycia, where successive civilizations established ports, settlements, trade routes, and sacred places that continue to define the region today.
Beginning in Antalya, the journey follows the Mediterranean through Myra, Kekova, Kaş, Patara, Ölüdeniz, Kayaköy, Fethiye, and Saklıkent Canyon. Along the way, travelers encounter Lycian rock-cut tombs, Roman theatres, submerged archaeological remains, mountain villages, ancient harbours, and some of the Mediterranean’s most spectacular coastal scenery.
Rather than presenting archaeology and nature as separate experiences, the itinerary connects ancient history, maritime culture, dramatic landscapes, and local traditions into one coherent journey along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast.
The Lycian Coast Tour from Cappadocia forms part of our carefully curated collection of Private Turkey Tours, where every itinerary has been developed around a distinctive destination, historical period, or cultural landscape.
As with every Adventus Travel journey, this experience combines licensed professional guides, thoughtfully planned routes, authentic local encounters, and the flexibility to adapt each day according to your interests, preferred pace, and seasonal conditions.
Travelers wishing to discover more about the region may continue with our Mediterranean Turkey Travel Guide, together with our guides to the Lycian Way, Mediterranean Turkey Cuisine, Kekova, and Patara. These resources provide historical background, regional travel advice, and practical planning information before or after your journey. Travelers planning to explore additional regions can also continue with our wider collection of Private Turkey Tours.
The Lycian coast is best experienced without the constraints of a fixed group schedule. Scenic coastal roads, archaeological sites, traditional harbours, and opportunities for short walks or boat excursions all benefit from a flexible pace. Private travel allows each day to adapt naturally to your interests while licensed professional guides provide historical interpretation and local insight throughout the journey.
Good morning! Meet your guide at your hotel in Cappadocia.
The journey toward the Mediterranean begins with a drive across Central Anatolia to Eşrefoğlu Mosque in Beyşehir, one of the finest surviving examples of Seljuk wooden architecture in Türkiye. Built in 1299, the mosque is renowned for its forest of cedar columns and remarkable craftsmanship, reflecting the artistic achievements of medieval Anatolia.
Continuing south across the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, arrive in Ormana Village, known for its distinctive Button Houses. Constructed using a traditional stone-and-timber interlocking technique without mortar, these houses offer insight into the architectural heritage of rural Anatolia.
Lunch will be served in the village.
A short drive leads to Altınbeşik Cave National Park, home to Türkiye’s largest underground lake. A boat ride through the cave reveals dramatic rock formations, underground chambers, and one of the most unique natural landscapes in the Mediterranean region.
By late afternoon, reach the Mediterranean coast and check into your hotel in Kaleiçi, Antalya’s historic old town.
The remainder of the day can be spent exploring Kaleiçi’s narrow streets, Ottoman-era houses, small courtyards, and historic harbor. Landmarks such as Hadrian’s Gate, Hıdırlık Tower, and the old marina reflect the many civilizations that shaped Antalya over the centuries.
Dinner and overnight in Antalya.
Good morning!
Begin the day at the Antalya Necropolis Museum, an open-air archaeological site preserving Roman sarcophagi, rock-cut tombs, and funerary monuments discovered during excavations in Antalya. The collection offers insight into how ancient communities commemorated the dead and reflected social status through burial traditions.
Continue to Phaselis, one of the most important ancient harbor cities of the Lycian coast. Founded at the intersection of maritime and overland trade routes, the city preserves its Roman aqueduct, theater, agora, bath complex, and three historic harbors. Surrounded by pine forests and the Mediterranean Sea, Phaselis combines archaeology with one of the most scenic coastal settings in southern Türkiye.
Free time may be enjoyed along the shoreline before lunch.
In the afternoon, follow a section of the Lycian Way toward Gelidonya Lighthouse, widely considered one of the most spectacular viewpoints along the Mediterranean coast. The walk passes through rugged coastal landscapes where the Taurus Mountains descend toward the sea, offering panoramic views across small islands, cliffs, and open water.
Arrive in Kumluca in the evening and check into your accommodation.
Dinner and overnight in Kumluca.
Good morning!
Depart for Demre, home to some of the most important archaeological and religious landmarks of the Lycian coast.
The day begins at the Ancient City of Myra, one of the leading cities of the Lycian League. Famous for its monumental rock-cut tombs carved high into the cliffs and its remarkably preserved Roman theater, Myra offers insight into the political, cultural, and artistic achievements of ancient Lycia.
Continue to the Church of St. Nicholas, built in honor of the 4th-century bishop of Myra. Revered for his generosity and compassion, Saint Nicholas later became the historical figure who inspired the modern Santa Claus tradition. The church remains one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the eastern Mediterranean.
Following lunch, continue west along the Mediterranean coastline toward Kaş, one of Türkiye’s most charming seaside towns.
Built on the site of ancient Antiphellos, Kaş combines Lycian history with a relaxed coastal atmosphere. Whitewashed houses, small cafés, fishing boats, and flower-lined streets create a distinctive character that has made the town one of the most beloved destinations on the Turkish Riviera.
The remainder of the afternoon is free to explore Kaş at your own pace. Wander through the old town, visit the harbor, enjoy the waterfront promenade, or simply relax and experience the slower rhythm of Mediterranean life.
Dinner and overnight in Kaş.
Good morning!
Today is dedicated to exploring the coastline of Kekova, one of the most beautiful sections of the Turkish Riviera.
Board a traditional boat and cruise through the turquoise waters surrounding Kekova Island, where traces of the famous Sunken City can still be seen beneath the surface. Although swimming is not permitted directly above the archaeological remains, the site offers a unique glimpse into an ancient settlement partially submerged by earthquakes centuries ago.
The route continues to Simena (Kaleköy), a picturesque waterfront village accessible primarily by boat. Free time allows for a walk through its narrow lanes, a visit to the hillside castle, or simply enjoying panoramic views across the bay.
Throughout the day, several swimming stops are made in secluded coves including Tersane Bay, Aquarium Bay, Burç Bay, and Pirate Cave, where crystal-clear waters and dramatic coastal scenery create an ideal Mediterranean experience.
Lunch is served on board.
The remainder of the afternoon is spent cruising along the coastline before returning to the harbor.
Dinner and overnight in Kaş.
Good morning!
The day begins in Patara, one of the most important cities of the ancient Lycian civilization and home to one of the longest sandy beaches on the Mediterranean coast.
Explore the archaeological site, where the remains of the parliament building, theater, colonnaded streets, and harbor structures reveal the significance of Patara as a political and commercial center of ancient Lycia.
Following the visit, enjoy free time at Patara Beach, a protected stretch of coastline known for its natural dunes, wide shoreline, and unspoiled scenery.
Continue toward Babadağ, where panoramic views overlook the turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs of the surrounding coastline.
A stop at the viewpoint above Butterfly Valley offers one of the most iconic landscapes of the Turkish Riviera. Surrounded by steep limestone walls, the valley remains accessible primarily by sea and has become one of the region’s most photographed natural landmarks.
Later in the afternoon, arrive at Kabak Bay, a secluded coastal retreat framed by pine forests and Mediterranean vegetation. Free time allows for swimming, relaxation, or simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the bay.
Dinner and overnight in the Fethiye region.
Good morning!
The day begins in Ölüdeniz, home to the famous Blue Lagoon and one of the most photographed coastlines in the Mediterranean. Enjoy free time for swimming, relaxing by the water, or simply taking in the views where turquoise waters meet the surrounding mountains.
For those seeking a more active experience, paragliding from Babadağ Mountain can be arranged as an optional activity, offering panoramic views of the coastline, islands, and sheltered bays below.
Continue to Kayaköy, one of Türkiye’s most atmospheric historic settlements. Walking through its stone houses, narrow lanes, and abandoned churches offers insight into a community that once flourished on these hillsides.
Later, visit the Amyntas Rock Tombs, carved high into the cliffs overlooking Fethiye. The elevated position provides both a close look at Lycian funerary architecture and sweeping views across the bay.
Arrival in Fethiye follows in the afternoon, with time to settle into your hotel and enjoy the relaxed coastal atmosphere of the town.
In the evening, explore Fethiye Fish Market, where local fishermen bring in their daily catch and restaurants prepare fresh seafood to your preference, creating one of the region’s most enjoyable dining experiences.
Overnight in Fethiye.
Good morning!
Today focuses on the natural side of the Mediterranean region, away from ancient cities and archaeological sites.
The first stop is Saklıkent Canyon, where towering rock walls rise above a narrow river corridor carved over thousands of years. Walking through the cool waters and shaded passages offers a refreshing contrast to the coastal landscapes explored earlier in the journey.
Continue to Gizlikent Waterfall, hidden within a lush valley and reached by following a short stream through the forest. Surrounded by greenery and flowing water, it provides one of the most peaceful settings along the route.
Lunch will be enjoyed in the area, with time to relax and appreciate the mountain scenery.
The afternoon remains flexible, allowing time to unwind before the journey concludes the following day.

Fantastic tour, A mixture of sights, culture, and Cappadocian hospitality. The tour I did was customised to a 4 day tour adding elements from the range of tours offered by the company. My Tour leader Nisa or “B” as I called her was a local and it made such a difference. We were able to dodge around the crowds as she knew local shortcuts and people. We were able to meet and eat with the locals and enjoy their hospitality. We went off the beaten tourist track sometimes, and when the weather didn’t quite play nice, we adjusted accordingly. One of the greatest moments was drinking tea with one of the cavehouse owners and also having a lunch with a local couple. “B” has great suggestions for places to go to watch the sunset and also local restaurants. We went to local market and a stall keeper had me trying my haggling skills to sell him something!! It was more like visiting family and seeing the sights than going on a small tour! Our driver was efficient and safe and the van was immaculate. I will be back!
We booked a private tour with Adventus and it was hands down the highlight of our trip to Cappadocia – Right from a comfortable car , safe driver to a knowledgeable guide – It was a great experience!! Our guide, Nisa, was incredibly knowledgeable, easygoing, and made everything feel seamless. What really stood out was how they customized the entire experience to match our interests—it felt personal rather than scripted. Absolutely worth it. If you’re planning a trip, don’t miss booking with Adventus!
We had the great privilege to discover Cappadocia with the greatest guides of all times Nisa, and we had the chance to see the region through the eyes of a local who loves her region and heritage. Nisa was captivating with her great explanations, her humor and passion as they say in Turkiye “iyi ki” she was our guide

When we arrived in cappadocia, we didn’t have many plans. We had an airport pickup and just wanted to see the balloons. In spite of the balloons being cancelled both days we were there, Buket made our experience an unforgettable one. We were a group of 15, and that is like herding cats, but Buket made us feel special and taken care of like kids of her own. We have unforgettable memories and amazing photos. We did both the green line and red line tours with her. We also loved the ATV experience , that was the peak. She is very knowledgeable and we learned so much about the past and the culture of the area. I would recommend her again and again.
