Istanbul has served as the capital of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires, leaving behind one of the world’s richest collections of historical monuments. Rather than presenting these landmarks as isolated attractions, this Istanbul Sightseeing Tour has been designed as a private two-day journey that introduces the city’s imperial heritage through a carefully planned itinerary. Combining monumental architecture, historic marketplaces, and a private Bosphorus cruise, the experience offers a balanced introduction to Istanbul’s cultural identity at a comfortable pace.
This itinerary is ideal for first-time visitors, travelers with limited time, and anyone wishing to understand Istanbul beyond its most photographed landmarks. It is particularly suited to guests interested in history, architecture, archaeology, photography, and cultural heritage while enjoying the flexibility and comfort of private travel with a licensed professional guide.
The itinerary follows a logical historical progression while allowing each district to be explored without rushing between attractions.
The first day is dedicated to the Historic Peninsula, where the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Basilica Cistern introduce the city’s Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman heritage. The day continues at the Grand Bazaar, where centuries of commercial tradition remain part of everyday life and reveal Istanbul’s importance as one of history’s great trading centers.
On the second day, the focus shifts to the Ottoman Empire. Topkapı Palace and the Imperial Harem provide insight into the political, ceremonial, and private life of the Ottoman court before the experience continues with a private cruise along the Bosphorus. Viewing Istanbul from the water reveals imperial palaces, waterfront mansions, historic neighborhoods, and the unique geography that connects Europe and Asia. The journey concludes at the Spice Bazaar, where the city’s long tradition of international trade continues in one of Istanbul’s most vibrant marketplaces.
Together, these experiences create a well-balanced introduction to Istanbul’s imperial history, religious heritage, commercial traditions, and maritime identity.

You’ll meet your guide at your hotel and begin the day in Sultanahmet, the historic heart of Istanbul.
The Hippodrome was once the social and political center of Byzantine Constantinople. Chariot races, imperial ceremonies, and public gatherings took place here for centuries. Today, monuments such as the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Serpent Column remain as reminders of the city’s Roman past.
The Blue Mosque, officially known as Sultan Ahmed Mosque, was commissioned by Sultan Ahmed I in the early 17th century. Its six minarets, cascading domes, and thousands of hand-painted İznik tiles have made it one of Istanbul’s most recognizable landmarks.
Completed in 537 AD during the reign of Emperor Justinian, Hagia Sophia stood as the largest cathedral in the Christian world for nearly a millennium. Its vast dome, mosaics, and layered history reflect the transition from Byzantine Constantinople to Ottoman Istanbul.
Beneath the streets of the city lies the Basilica Cistern, an underground reservoir constructed to supply water to the Great Palace and surrounding districts. Rows of marble columns rise from the water, creating one of Istanbul’s most atmospheric historical sites.
Founded shortly after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople, the Grand Bazaar remains one of the world’s oldest and largest covered markets. Its labyrinth of streets preserves centuries of commercial tradition, where craftsmen, traders, and travelers have gathered since the 15th century.
Return to your hotel.
Good morning! After meeting your guide, the day begins at Topkapı Palace, the administrative and ceremonial center of the Ottoman Empire for nearly four centuries.
Behind its walls, sultans governed a vast territory stretching across three continents. The palace complex contains imperial courtyards, treasury collections, audience chambers, and pavilions overlooking the Bosphorus, offering insight into the daily workings of the Ottoman court.
Within the palace lies the Imperial Harem, a private residential section reserved for the sultan’s family and household. Far beyond popular myths, the Harem functioned as a highly structured institution where education, protocol, and dynastic life shaped the future of the empire.
From the palace grounds, attention shifts to the waterway that has defined Istanbul for centuries. The Bosphorus Strait serves as a natural boundary between Europe and Asia while connecting the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. Throughout history, merchants, diplomats, armies, and travelers have passed through these waters, making the Bosphorus one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
Along the shoreline stand imperial palaces, historic fortresses, waterfront mansions, and fishing neighborhoods that illustrate the city’s evolving relationship with the sea. Viewing Istanbul from the water offers a perspective that cannot be experienced from its streets alone.
The day concludes at the Spice Bazaar, established in the 17th century as part of the New Mosque complex. For centuries, merchants traded spices, herbs, dried fruits, and luxury goods arriving from Asia, Arabia, and beyond. The market remains a living reminder of Istanbul’s role as a crossroads between continents and cultures.

Fantastic tour, A mixture of sights, culture, and Cappadocian hospitality. The tour I did was customised to a 4 day tour adding elements from the range of tours offered by the company. My Tour leader Nisa or “B” as I called her was a local and it made such a difference. We were able to dodge around the crowds as she knew local shortcuts and people. We were able to meet and eat with the locals and enjoy their hospitality. We went off the beaten tourist track sometimes, and when the weather didn’t quite play nice, we adjusted accordingly. One of the greatest moments was drinking tea with one of the cavehouse owners and also having a lunch with a local couple. “B” has great suggestions for places to go to watch the sunset and also local restaurants. We went to local market and a stall keeper had me trying my haggling skills to sell him something!! It was more like visiting family and seeing the sights than going on a small tour! Our driver was efficient and safe and the van was immaculate. I will be back!
We booked a private tour with Adventus and it was hands down the highlight of our trip to Cappadocia – Right from a comfortable car , safe driver to a knowledgeable guide – It was a great experience!! Our guide, Nisa, was incredibly knowledgeable, easygoing, and made everything feel seamless. What really stood out was how they customized the entire experience to match our interests—it felt personal rather than scripted. Absolutely worth it. If you’re planning a trip, don’t miss booking with Adventus!
We had the great privilege to discover Cappadocia with the greatest guides of all times Nisa, and we had the chance to see the region through the eyes of a local who loves her region and heritage. Nisa was captivating with her great explanations, her humor and passion as they say in Turkiye “iyi ki” she was our guide

When we arrived in cappadocia, we didn’t have many plans. We had an airport pickup and just wanted to see the balloons. In spite of the balloons being cancelled both days we were there, Buket made our experience an unforgettable one. We were a group of 15, and that is like herding cats, but Buket made us feel special and taken care of like kids of her own. We have unforgettable memories and amazing photos. We did both the green line and red line tours with her. We also loved the ATV experience , that was the peak. She is very knowledgeable and we learned so much about the past and the culture of the area. I would recommend her again and again.
